What is No Prep Veneer?

One of the most preferred aesthetic dental treatments, no prep veneers / prepless veneers do not require any abrasion of the tooth surfaces. The method applied in laminate veneer (leaf veneer) treatments involves placing thin porcelain leaves on the tooth surfaces, using very strong adhesive materials. For better bonding, a preparation step involving the application of materials to roughen the tooth surface is carried out.

In no prep veneer / prepless veneer treatments, there is no need to reduce the tooth surfaces as much as in crown treatments. Often, it is possible to complete a smile design treatment by removing minimal tooth material or not removing any material at all.

In leaf veneers, which use ultra-thin ceramic and composite materials, it is possible to achieve a more aesthetic, whiter smile while preserving the original structure of the teeth.

No prep veneers and minimal prep veneers can be applied to both the upper and lower teeth. If an aesthetically harmonious and flawless appearance is desired, applying veneers to 10 teeth on both the upper and lower jaws will yield the desired result. Of course, the number of teeth to be treated depends on the patient's preferences, budget, and the recommendations of the dentist.

### Why Are No Prep / Minimal Prep Veneer Applications Necessary?

No abrasion or roughening of the teeth is required, thus preserving the patient's natural teeth. It provides quick and aesthetic results in cases where there are not significant color changes or gaps in the teeth. Since the veneers are custom-made based on the measurements of the teeth and bonded with a special technique, they are supported by the tooth, do not get damaged in case of trauma, and will not be affected even if the tooth decays from the inside.

### When Are No Prep / Minimal Prep Veneers Applied?

No Prep / Minimal Prep Veneers are typically applied using the laminate veneer method to the front teeth, which usually requires abrasion. However, if there is no deformation, decay, irregularity, or cracks and fractures in the front teeth or smile line, no abrasion is necessary, and no prep veneer application can be performed. In some cases, minimal abrasion may be required, and minimal prep veneer application may be used instead.
